As a member of the Human Resources team, you will be instrumental in helping bring advice and guidance to our client groups through expert advising on a broad range of HR services. You will be providing advice on employee well-being, EDI, employee engagement, leadership development, performance development, organization development, and employee onboarding and socialization. And dealing with sensitive and confidential situations around recruitment and collective agreement interpretation, as well as working strategically with department leaders on recruitment data and methods. What you’ll do
Provides human resources and labour relations advice and guidance, and collective agreement interpretation to administrators, deans, chairs, coordinators and other employees, often in sensitive and confidential situations such as recruitment and selection, regularization and lay-offs, grievances, discipline, departmental structure, job evaluation and classification, performance, development and engagement, leaves, and employee relations.
Supports administrators in the University’s hiring activities including: advising on and approving postings; guiding selection panel members on the collective agreement, relevant policies, procedures, practices, interview questions and formats; testing of technical skills; administers the processing of offers of employment, regularization, and confirms pay and benefit entitlement.
Work as a strategic partner with department leaders to attract top talent by demonstrating functional expertise and industry knowledge to identify and deploy a variety of recruiting methods to source and meet current and future needs.
Researches and analyses HR data, prepares information and reports related to human resource management issues, including staffing, reductions, regularization, retention, compensation, absence, paid and unpaid leaves, wellness, employee benefits, and other human resources metrics and statistics. Supports activities and collation of information for collective agreement bargaining negotiations, as required.

What you’ll bring

Completion of a post-secondary degree in Human Resources Management, or equivalent post-secondary education in a directly related field.
Five years recent and direct HR experience as a human resources advisor/generalist, including evidenced experience in a unionized work environment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
CPHR designation considered an asset
Previous exposure to an educational or public environment is highly desirable.

Salary
Normal starting salary placement is between $62,342 – $83,122. Compensation beyond the control/mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employer’s Council Secretariat (PSEC).
