Job Description

      Reporting to the Territorial Community Engagement Secretary, the Pathway of Hope Coordinator is responsible to provide internal consulting services and support to ministry units providing Pathway of Hope. Working as part of a team with various specialties, the coordinator will engage with stakeholders at various levels of the organization (local, divisional, territorial), supporting them in offering mission-drive and outcomes-focused programming. The coordinator is responsible for the support, implementation, training, monthly data collection, clinical supervision of casework services and management of overall casework services offered to participants of Pathway of Hope across Canada and Bermuda Territory.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Professional Practice:

      • Provide internal consulting services and expertise to Ministry Units and Divisions in the area of Pathway of Hope, change management, toolkit development, and program development; resourcing other Territorial departments as applicable Plan, implement and evaluate projects directed at increasing the capacity of The Salvation Army to provide exemplary programming
      • Participate with the Communications Department in messaging for public relations and public affairs
      • Monitor and report on changes to national and provincial response to poverty reduction
      • Support stakeholders in planning, operating, evaluating, and improving programs, developing processes and systems, securing adequate funding, complying with organizational and funder expectations
      • Facilitate communities of practice amongst ministry units in the territory
      • Where applicable, support stakeholders in successfully completing The Salvation Army’s internal accreditation process utilizing methodology and evaluation strategies outlined through Pathway of Hope
      • Provide support and direct service, community resource development, and casework consultation to ensure the full implementation of the Pathway of Hope model
      • Participate in assigned boards, capital projects and other committees, as required
      • Participate in planning and coordinating conferences, workshops, and national events
      • Provide direct supports to the Divisions and Ministry Units, working closely with Area Commanders for ministry unit capacity building and staff development
      • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and training of new employees directly involved in Pathway of Hope
      • Provide casework orientation and training for all new Pathway of Hope caseworkers and spiritual care providers
      • Support a minimum of fifteen ministry units providing Pathway of Hope
      • Ensure open and consistent communication by participating in weekly, bi-weekly or monthly conference calls providing consultation, technical assistance, software supports and clinical supervision of case files
      • Meet with the Area Commander once a quarter to provide a detailed update on the status of each ministry unit
      • Provide both the Territory & Division with monthly data reports of all ministry units implementing Pathway of Hope
      • Assist in planning and organizing monthly skills based territorial trainings for ministry units implementing Pathway of Hope

      Policy & Standards Documentation and Continuous Improvement:

      • Maintain current knowledge of best/promising practices and monitor changing response/new approaches to service provision
      • Develop documents (e.g. tools, reports, reviews, standards, sample policies, guidelines, FAQs etc.) for Salvation Army programs and personnel on relevant issues
      • Evaluation of providers and their understanding of Pathway of Hope utilizing various methodologies
      • Prepare and make presentations to internal and external groups
      • Network with other community partners to assist with training, resources and exploration of creative, innovative partnerships to enhance the supports to participants of Pathway of Hope
      • Ensure relevance and consistency of Pathway of Hope by collaboration with the Territory and Division with ongoing development of policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and outcome based measurements related to Pathway of Hope
      • Assist the division and ministry units in accessing funding, applying for funding both public and private
      • Maintain membership in relevant associations

      People Management:

      • May serve as first line supervisor/leader, ensuring quality & work flow maintained, providing guidance and support to staff
      • Accountable to communicate objectives and priorities to staff/students/volunteers
      • May be authorized to assign, check & monitor work of staff/students/volunteers
      • If assigned direct reports, would have authority to participate in hiring and ongoing responsibility for training, day-to-day supervision, and performance appraisals

      QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

      Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

      • Master’s degree (MSW) in human service is required

      Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

      • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in direct client management support services field
      • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in provincial and federal poverty reduction strategies
      • Extensive knowledge of social services administration and program development through a social work lens
      • Knowledge of social service systems in more than one province preferred
