Your Role:
The incumbent will work within the NA Business Support team as a key resource in our Toronto office, proactively providing business support to our broader internal IVZ customers, colleagues, external clients, and business partners. This individual will develop a high level of functional knowledge within the team enabling them to provide support specific to Canadian rules/ regulations and risk mitigation on tasks and deliverables ensuring the teams key requirements are met. Additionally, this team member will work alongside and provide back-up coverage for US and/ or Global support functions as needed to fulfill our support obligations.
You will be responsible for:
- Maintain a deep understanding and awareness of the Canadian regulatory environment. Including interpretation and implementation of such regulatory changes as required; liaising with Global Investment centers, Legal, Compliance, and external parties.
- Maintain and enhance the operational support for the Canadian Fund Securities Lending Programs, including the vendor relationship, reporting material for the board of directors, annual renewal process and participate on the Security Lending Committee, etc.
- Provide support and coordination for our global market and country opening requirements along with the AML/ KYC functions. Inclusive of new markets, renewals, learning the IVZ/ CAD legal entity structure for Mutual Funds and ETF.
- Provide support and act as POC for our CIBC Canadian custodian for vendor management, custody billing and escalation requirements.
- Represent the Business Support team on Canadian Fund events and initiatives, through participation in committee meetings, application support and adhoc requirements.
- Manage transition activities including account onboarding, and new broker requests and approvals, and in-specie transitions, along with the data maintenance activities and SSI’s as required.
- Keep up to date processes and procedures to meet changes in process, legislation, and regulations, complimentary to a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture.
- Provide MIS metrics for distribution to key internal and external stakeholders for group reporting.
- Fully participate in projects and initiatives impacting GTCM.
The experience you bring:
- 7+ years previous experience within the securities / investment industry or similar environment is desirable.
- Prior experience in global market documentation as a specialist, legal aide, paralegal or the like.
- Good understanding and knowledge of the Canadian regulatory landscape
- Understanding of both the domestic and global financial markets, Investment Management and/ or custody practices.
- Ability to analyze data making sound judgments and proposed resolution steps in respect of any issues arising.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
- Canadian Notary Public required or needed within the first 30 days of employment
- Good interpersonal skills necessary to maintain relationships and interact effectively with individuals at all levels across business functions.
- Excellent communication skills, open minded and flexible.
- A broad knowledge of trading, broker, and custodian operations.
- Ability to analyze and solve issues in a timely manner.
- A broad knowledge of industry regulations.
- Good awareness of technology applications and software, to support growing trading complexity and automation efficiencies.
- Strong organizational skills to meet tight deadlines and detail orientation.
