      Overview

      We’re on the hunt for a Director of Finance to join our Vancouver HQ! In this role, you’ll be leading a small but mighty team in daily accounting activities, financial planning, budgeting and corporate taxation to ensure we are effectively managing our financial resources. You will also play a senior role in corporate finance activities.

      As both a strategic and key member of our leadership team, this role is a great opportunity to make a significant impact on Vessi’s overall direction by providing detailed, timely and meaningful financial information and analysis to influence our business decisions.

      What You’ll Do:

      • Lead the accounting and finance team to execute our financial strategy
      • Collaborate with the leadership team on strategic planning and provide guidance and guardrails on capital resourcing
      • Take ownership of periodic financial reports and accounting activities
      • Lead and when needed, get hands-on with FP&A (planning and budgeting, performance reporting, forecasting cash flow and modelling)
      • Oversee preparation of company financial statements and the execution of external reporting for lenders and tax authorities
      • Provide valuable inputs and analysis and effectively communicate to Senior Management on the financial implications of business and investment activities
      • Possess a thorough understanding of the company’s risk profile in order to develop and take ownership of all risk management and mitigation plans for the company
      • Ensure a good record keeping and documentation of accounting records and implement internal control procedures to mitigate risks
      • Supervise and provide necessary coaching and training to all accounting and finance staff
      • Manage key external relationships and oversee the work of suppliers, vendors, auditors, tax accountants and tax authorities
      • Oversee the capital structure of the company, determining the best mix of debt, equity and internal financing
      • Analyze our current cash situation and decide where and when to invest the company funds, taking risk into consideration

      What We’re Looking For:

      • 3-5 years of experience as a Director of Finance
      • CPA designation
      • Previous people management experience with the ability to lead and inspire others
      • Strong accounting and tax knowledge with excellent managerial financial skills
      • Exceptional communication skills to connect and interpret financial data and business activities
      • Experience with financial modelling and ability to update and navigate complex financial models
      • High energy level and the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced/high-growth/startup environment
      • Entrepreneurial spirit and desire for high achievement
